I built SmilingEyes because my own eyes were wrecked. Years of back-to-back screens left me with the dry, strained, end-of-day burnout that every "take a break" app promises to fix and none of them actually track — they just nag you on a timer whether you've blinked once or a hundred times in the last twenty minutes.
So I built the thing I wanted: an app that can actually tell when your blink rate drops or your posture slips, using the camera already built into your Mac, entirely on-device, and nudges you only when you genuinely need it — not on a fixed schedule. Everything else — the break timer, the exercises, the iPhone companion — grew out of trying to make that one honest signal useful.
